The temperature is in the upper 50s, and it shouldn’t get much warmer as a wave of light rain has moved into metro Atlanta, Channel 2 Action News reported.

The moisture is from the remnants of Hurricane Willa, which is making its way across the Southeast, Channel 2 meteorologist Karen Minton said.

Congestion is also picking up across metro Atlanta, especially on the Downtown Connector and I-75, according to the WSB 24-hour Traffic Center.

In Cobb County, all lanes have reopened on I-75 South near Barrett Parkway after a police chase that ended on the interstate, the Traffic Center reported. Cobb police spokeswoman Sarah O’Hara said Emerson police was involved in a chase with a tractor-trailer. No other details were available.

A left lane of West Peachtree Street at 17th Street is blocked for road work, and two right lanes of Peachtree Road are blocked for construction at Piedmont Road, the Traffic Center reported.

North Georgia is preparing to settle in for a damp, cooler weather pattern.

“Gradually, you’ll start to see the clouds thicken and lower across the area through the afternoon toward evening time,” Minton said.

Rain chances jump to 80 percent Friday, according to the latest forecast. Temperatures are also expected to take a nosedive Friday. Some spots won’t get out of the 40s, Minton said.

In metro Atlanta, the projected high Friday is 55 degrees.

By Sunday, she said the region should see some improvement with clearing clouds and warmer temperatures.
