7:18 p.m. Severe thunderstorm warnings remain in effect for DeKalb, Gwinnett, Walton and Barrow counties, and parts of Rockdale and Newton counties, until 7:30 p.m. A separate storm north of the metro area includes warnings for northern Cherokee and Pickens counties.
6:54 p.m. Two thunderstorms are splitting the metro area. The severe warning has expired for Paulding and Cobb counties, but it remains in effect for Bartow, north Fulton and Forsyth counties until 7 p.m. The southern storm is moving northeast through DeKalb County. The warning is for DeKalb, Gwinnett, Rockdale, Walton and Newton counties.
6:37 p.m. Channel 2 Action News chief meteorologist Glenn Burns reports possible wind gusts of up to 60 mph and heavy lightning in two separate storms on either side of the metro area. The northern severe thunderstorm warning covers north Paulding, north Cobb, part of Bartow, north Fulton and south Forsyth counties. The southern storm, situated over Riverdale and Jonesboro, now includes severe warnings for DeKalb, Fulton, Gwinnett and Rockdale counties.
6:25 p.m. Henry, Fayette and Clayton counties have been added to the severe thunderstorm warning list until 6:45 p.m. Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brian Monahan reports the storms are moving northeast at 30-40 mph. Expect heavy rain and strong wind gusts.
6:17 p.m. A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for parts of Paulding, Cobb, Cherokee, north Fulton and Forsyth counties until 7 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.
UPDATE: [5:54 p.m.] A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for Coweta County until 6:15 p.m. Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brian Monahan reported wind speeds of 40 mph less than a thousand feet above the ground on radar. The storm is moving toward Peachtree City.

Drivers beware.
The forecast calls for scattered storms, gusty winds and lightning to pick up just as workers head home for the day Monday, according to Channel 2 Action News.
Showers could begin about 4 p.m. in metro Atlanta. By 6 p.m., expect heavy rain, meteorologist Brian Monahan said.
Showers should gradually move off to the northern and eastern parts of metro Atlanta before tapering by 10 p.m.
There is a 30 percent chance of showers Tuesday.
Temperatures were 75 degrees in Atlanta, 85 degrees in Blairsville and 69 degrees in Griffin at 7 p.m.
The expected high in Atlanta is 91 degrees.
