It’s warmer than normal, and the heat isn’t going anywhere soon.

The average high this time of year in Atlanta is 77 degrees, according to Channel 2 Action News.

Monday’s high was 84 degrees; however, temps hit 85 degrees in Atlanta before 5 p.m.

Temperatures were 79 degrees in Atlanta, 65 in Blairsville and 66 in Griffin shortly before 9:30 p.m.

“Looking at the five-day forecast, it’s a dry one,” Channel 2 meteorologist Karen Minton said.

The Category 4 Hurricane Matthew that could bring 130 mph winds to Haiti and dump as much as 40 inches of rain in some areas of the Dominican Republic and Haiti won't bring any wet weather to metro Atlanta.

“We really do need to have some rain, but even the weekend looks dry,” Minton said. “With a front coming through on Saturday, we may get a little bit breezy.”

Temps are expected to remain in the 80s all week.
