Fast-moving storms are expected on Father’s Day afternoon, according to Channel 2 Action News.

The weather pattern should be similar to the past few days: dry mornings, wet afternoons. The afternoon heat will transform the muggy, humid mornings into stormy, rain-filled afternoons and evenings, Channel 2 meteorologist Brian Monahan said.

Sunday has a 40 percent chance of rain, and so does Monday. Channel 2 Chief Meteorologist Glenn Burns predicts a chance of rain every day for the rest of June. And he said July is historically an even rainier month.

Monahan said Sunday’s storms should move a little quicker than those of the past two days.

“I don’t think we’ll quite have the issue of storms popping up over one neighborhood or one county and just sitting there for what feels like a couple of hours,” Monahan said.

The storms could bring  gusty wind, lightning and possibly some hail, but they should be in decline by early evening.

However, if you plan to go to the Braves-Padres game, which starts at 1:35 p.m., traffic may prove to be a bigger issue than rain.

Repair work continues on the off-ramp from I-285 East to Cobb Parkway due to a sinkhole that appeared Friday, Georgia Department of Transportation officials said.

The work has closed down all three right-turn lanes near SunTrust Park, according to GDOT.

GDOT officials expect repairs to be finished sometime Monday, Channel 2 reported Sunday. However, it’s not clear if the work will be completed in time for the Monday morning commute.

A few other construction projects on I-285 could add some congestion. Near Hollowell Parkway, two right lanes of I-285 are closed until early Monday for construction, GDOT said. The eastbound I-285 ramp at Jonesboro Road is also closed until early Monday morning.
