If you thought it’s been warm lately, just wait until Wednesday.
Forecasts show record-breaking highs on the way, as temperatures are expected to soar near 90 degrees in metro Atlanta, according to Channel 2 Action News.
Temps were expected to reach 84 degrees Monday, but reached 82 by 2 p.m. The record high for this day is 85, set in 2011.
“And we get even hotter from here,” Channel 2 meteorologist Brian Monahan said. Temps are expected to reach 86 degrees Tuesday and 88 on Wednesday.
The record for Tuesday is 86 degrees, set in 1984. Wednesday’s record of 87 degrees was set in 1938.
By noon Monday, Atlanta temperatures had passed the average high for this time of year at 72 degrees.
Temperatures were 74 degrees in Atlanta, 60 in Blairsville and 64 in Griffin just before 9:40 p.m.
Humidity was at 60 percent, but it is expected to decrease, with dry conditions continuing, meteorologists said.
The next chance of rain is Thursday, when there is a 20 percent chance. There is a 40 percent rain chance Friday.
