The rain was tapering off before 8 p.m., but clouds will stick around overnight, Channel 2 Action News meteorologists say.
Rain, sleet and snow moved through the Atlanta metro Thursday, causing a winter weather advisory for parts of the north Georgia mountains until 10 p.m., Chief Meteorologist Glenn Burns said.
The wintry weather sparked several school and business closings Thursday afternoon.
Overall, current temperatures are expected to hover around 45 degrees in north Georgia and in metro Atlanta, but are expected to dip Friday morning, with sunny but breezy conditions, meteorologists said.
Temperatures were 41 degrees in Griffin, 40 degrees in Atlanta and 36 degrees in Blairsville at 8 p.m.
The high Friday is expected to be 59 degrees, with temperatures in the 60s over the weekend.
