UPDATE 5:30 p.m.: Rain over Buckhead was headed toward Marietta and Cobb County, but Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brad Nitz said downpours would be few and isolated.
“Not a ton of rain; showers that have developed are small,” Nitz said.
A downpour was spotted over Suwanee, making for wet roads during the rush hour.
Temperatures were 90 degrees in Atlanta, 78 degrees in Blairsville and 89 degrees in Griffin.
ORIGINAL STORY: Metro Atlanta drivers can expect a dry ride home from work Thursday and little rain for the rest of the week.
Any areas that do get showers will more than likely be east of Atlanta toward Gainesville, where thunderstorms are possible, according to Channel 2 Action News.
“Here across Georgia, we are quiet right now,” meteorologist Karen Minton said.
The humidity was at 63 percent just before 2:10 p.m., with airflow out of the southeast keeping conditions muggy.
“Temperatures are going to stall just shy of those 90-degree marks in most cases,” Minton said.
A high of 89 degrees is expected in Atlanta by 3 p.m., but areas around Atlanta including Griffin, Athens and Carrollton will get into the low 90s.
Temperatures were 87 degrees in Atlanta, 79 in Blairsville and 86 in Griffin just before 2:10 p.m.
There is a 20-to-30 percent chance of rain Friday, a 10 percent chance of rain Saturday and a 20 percent chance of rain Sunday.
