Holiday weekend to remain warm, mostly dry

Meteorologist Brian Monahan has your Friday afternoon weather forecast.

The warm holiday weekend weather that metro Atlantans enjoyed on Thanksgiving Day will be even warmer by Saturday, as forecasters predict highs tin the low 70s. Rain should stay away until late Sunday, when there’s a slight chance of a few sprinkles.

Atlanta’s high Thursday of 68 was 8 degrees above normal for the date, and Friday’s morning low of 52 was 11 degrees warmer than normal.

Channel 2 meteorologist Brian Monahan said highs Friday afternoon will again climb to around 68 degrees under partly sunny skies.

Saturday will be partly sunny, with a morning low of 51 and a high of 71, Monahan said.

Clouds will increase on Sunday, and there’s a 10 percent chance of a shower late in the day or Sunday night. Highs Sunday will be in the upper 60s, with lows around 53 degrees.

The chance of rain increases to 30 percent on Monday, when highs in the low 60s will follow morning lows in the low 50s.
