Temperatures might not only break a 78-year-old record Wednesday.
According to the latest Channel 2 Action News forecast, metro Atlanta could hit 90 degrees.

The “latest we’ve ever hit 90 in Atlanta was Oct. 9,” Channel 2 meteorologist Brian Monahan said. “We’ve got a shot today.”
Temps were 83 degrees in Atlanta, 81 in Blairsville and 84 in Griffin just before 2:30 p.m.
Temperatures are expected to reach 89 degrees by 4 p.m. Wednesday, breaking the record of 87 degrees set in 1938, Channel 2 reported.
“It looks like summer,” Monahan said. “It feels like summer outside now.”
Thursday could be another record-breaking day, he said. The expected high is 87 degrees. The record, set in 1943, is 85 degrees.
Metro Atlanta should be out of record-breaking territory by Friday, when the high is expected to drop to 72 degrees and the chance of rain is 30 percent.
