Clouds that are covering metro Atlanta skies Saturday are giving a clue as to what’s ahead: rain.

After seemingly endless days with no rainfall, the area will be getting more. Some is possible Saturday evening, with the chances increasing Sunday and into next week.

“When we go into Sunday, we’ll see the steadier rainfall come through,” Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Jennifer Lopez said Saturday morning.

Saturday’s temperatures should be climbing into the upper 50s as the day goes on. The reading is expected to be at 58 when the SEC championship game betweeen Alabama and Florida kicks off at 4 p.m. at the Georgia Dome.

Be ready for wet stuff Sunday, with the chance of rain at 100 percent. The rainfall total could surpass one inch during the day.

As of 9:30 a.m. Saturday, it was 44 degrees in Atlanta, 46 degrees in Griffin, and 30 degrees in Blairsville.
