Temperatures tipped into the 90s Tuesday and are expected to continue reaching that threshold the next four days.
“Five-day forecast shows the heat [is] here to stay,” Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brad Nitz said.
Temps were 83 degrees in Atlanta, 74 degrees in Blairsville and 81 degrees in Griffin just after 10 p.m.
The heat index was at 96 degrees just after noon.
“This heat can be dangerous,” meteorologist Karen Minton said. “Stay hydrated and if you work outside, take breaks in the AC whenever possible.”
Highs are expected to stay in the mid-90s until they drop Friday into the low 90s;.
