Morning lows will hover in the 30s Thursday and Friday before temperatures rebound and move into the 60s, Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brad Nitz said. A few spots south of Atlanta could briefly hit 70 degrees.

“As high pressure starts to build in from the west, as we head through [Wednesday] evening, our winds will become lighter,” Nitz said. “We’ll stay clear, and then chilly turning cold overnight and into [Thursday] morning, down in the 30s to start the day.

“And from there sunshine, and then we begin a warming trend [Thursday] that eventually is going to bring us well up into the 60s.”

Temperatures were 50 degrees in Atlanta, 43 degrees in Blairsville and 51 degrees in Griffin just before 1:30 p.m.

But they felt colder because of wind from the northwest moving through the area at 14 mph, meteorologists said.

Highs are expected to hit 63 degrees Friday before climbing to 65 degrees Saturday and 67 degrees Sunday.

Enjoy the warmer temperatures while they last.

“A chance of a few scattered showers late Tuesday,” Nitz said. “Better rain chances early next week followed by more cold air.”
