Several strong thunderstorms were reported across north Georgia on Thursday, with some producing frequent lightning and strong winds.
“Scattered showers and storms are pushing through North Georgia, some strong,” Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Katie Walls said. “Heavy downpours, gusty wind and lightning are our main concerns.”
As of around 3 p.m., no severe thunderstorm watches or warnings had been issued for the metro Atlanta or north Georgia areas.
Channel 2 chief meteorologist Glenn Burns said most of the rain would clear by around 5 p.m.
The Atlanta Fire Department reported a tree fell during a downpour around 2:30 p.m. on a house located on the 1000 block of Margaret Place NW. One person was in the house when the tree fell and escaped without injury.
