You’re such a tease, Atlanta weather.

After a record-breaking 84-degree day this week, frost — yes, that stuff that's usually associated with cold weather — is in the forecast early next week.

“Look at Monday,” Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Karen Minton said. “[There will] be frost in many spots. You’ll want to think about making sure those plants are off your porch.”

Minton said Friday an approaching weather system is going to bring moisture and “help start the change in temperatures.”

Before the frost, expect mostly cloudy skies and shifting winds.

Temperatures were 72 degrees in Atlanta, 65 degrees in Blairsville and 71 degrees in Griffin just before 2 p.m.

Friday's pollen count was 1,490 particles of pollen per cubic meter of air — just below Thursday's count of 1,531, which is the highest pollen count of the season so far. However, that's still less than a fourth of last year's season high of 6,152 on April 9.

Cooling weather and weekend showers should clear up some of the allergy-inducing dust.

Showers to the west and south of Atlanta early Friday will start moving in over the next several hours, with some south metro counties seeing showers as early as this afternoon. Most of the metro area isn’t expected to get wet weather until about 11 p.m.

And the rain will continue Saturday with isolated showers to the north about 1 p.m. Heavier, more widespread downpours are expected to start about 4 p.m. and last through 8 p.m. It won’t taper off completely until about 11 p.m. Saturday.

Metro Atlanta shouldn’t rule out thunder, but the area probably won’t get any severe storms.

Temperatures will top out in the upper 60s Saturday, the lower 50s Sunday and the high 50s Monday, the day frost is in the forecast.

Monday’s expected low is 35 degrees.
