Expect temperatures to stay out of freezing range over the next few days, with warmer weather and rain by Friday.

Sunny and cold most the day Wednesday, the temperature just after 2:30 p.m. was 48 degrees in metro Atlanta, 46 degrees in Griffin and 44 degrees in Blairsville, according to Channel 2 Action News.

That’s not too cold, and Channel 2 meteorologist Karen Minton’s forecast makes a case for even better weather.

“We are on a warming trend the next couple of days,” Minton said.

Thursday’s temperatures will reach the upper 50s, and the weather will cool slightly to a high in the lower 50s Friday.

Showers will mark the end of the business week, Minton said. A December surplus aside, metro Atlanta has seen a deficit of 0.84 inches of rain since the start of the new year, but that may change soon.

Minton said the area could see 0.25 to 0.75 inches of rain.

Cold weather isn’t expected to return until Sunday.
