Metro Atlantans awakened to a preview of fall on Wednesday, as temperatures dropped into the upper 40s to mid-50s.
Fall doesn’t officially begin until 10:49 a.m. Saturday, but readings early Wednesday ranged from 49 in Alpharetta, 50 in Dallas and 51 in Dunwoody and Johns Creek to 53 in Peachtree City and 54 at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.
Normal low for this time of year is 64, the normal high 82.
Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Karen Minton said Wednesday afternoon will be mostly sunny, with lower humidity and highs only in the upper 70s.
Mostly sunny and dry conditions will continue through the weekend, Minton predicted.
Highs will be in the low 80s Thursday through Saturday, and in the upper 70s on Sunday, she said. Lows will be in the 60s.
Another round of cooler air will drop temperatures back into the upper 40s to low 50s early Monday, forecasters said.
