Atlanta is more likely to tie record high temperatures Tuesday than break them, according to Channel 2 Action News.
The current record high, set in 1974, is 81 degrees.
Earlier forecasts indicated Atlanta would break that.
Just before 1 p.m., Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Karen Minton said while sunshine kept conditions warm, Atlanta will instead “probably tie that record or get very close to it.”
Temps were 77 degrees in Atlanta, 76 in Blairsville and 80 in Griffin just before 2 p.m.
Highs are expected to drop to 80 degrees Wednesday, 79 Thursday and 69 Friday, Minton said.
“There is a cold front that’s going to be coming along this way going into Thursday, and that will assure, in a very slight chance, an isolated sprinkle in some spots,” Minton said.
There is a 10 percent chance of rain Thursday.
In the meantime, dry and sunny conditions will remain.
