The routine of afternoon showers and storms should keep up Saturday in Atlanta, according to Channel 2 Action News forecasts.

By 3 p.m., “downpours, gusty wind and frequent lighting are our biggest risks,” Channel 2 meteorologist Brian Monahan said.

A cold front moving into the area is triggering this afternoon wetness, Monahan said. The pattern is expected to continue Sunday night into Monday.

“Our first real cold front of the year is coming through,” Monahan said.

Saturday will see a 60 percent chance of rain, with a forecast high of 89. Sunday will be similar, with a high of 88 and 60 percent chance of rain.

The National Weather Service said the storms “could cause locally heavy rain, with flooding possible.”
