Georgia is an ideal location for wallet-friendly summer road trips, according to a study from WalletHub.

WalletHub – a personal finance website – ranked the Peach State No. 13 out of the 50 U.S. states for being one of the most "fun, scenic and wallet-friendly road-trip destinations."

The study analyzed over 20 key metrics, including each state’s attractions, road conditions, costs and weather patterns.

In the study, WalletHub also ranked each state on other categories, such as number of attractions, average gas prices and driving laws rating.

Georgia’s ratings in these categories can be seen in the list below:

Georgia as a Road-Trip Destination (1=Best; 25=Avg.):

  • 21st – Number of Attractions
  • 11th – Lowest Price of Three-Star Hotel
  • 20th – Average Gas Prices
  • 22nd – Number of Nightlife Options per Capita
  • 23rd – Number of Scenic Byways
  • 5th – Lowest Price of Camping
  • 11th – Driving Laws Rating
  • 24th – Number of Fatalities per 100 Million Vehicle Miles Traveled

The Top 5 locations – in descending order – were Oregon, Nevada, Utah, North Carolina and Minnesota. The bottom ranked states were North Dakota (No. 47), Mississippi (No.48), Alaska (No. 49) and Connecticut (No. 50).
