Georgia Tech wrapped up one of its better recruiting classes in program history Wednesday.

Third-year Tech coach and Brent Key was not expected to announce any additions to the new group of Yellow Jackets after the program signed 23 high school seniors in December.

Tech’s class of high school recruits finished ranked 22nd by Rivals and 247Sports and 24th by On3.

Josh Petty, listed as a 6-foot-6, 260-pound offensive lineman from Fellowship Christian Academy, is the bell cow of the group as the No. 29 ranked player nationally, according to 247Sports. Safety Tae Harris (5-11, 190), from Cedartown High School, was also among the top 100 players nationally at No. 57 as was Dalen Penson (5-11, 170), a defensive back from Sandy Creek High School, at 68th overall.

Tech’s ranking does not include 17 transfers who have declared their intentions to transfer for the 2025 season. That group is highlighted by former Florida International wide receiver Eric Rivers who was considered a four-star transfer recruit by 247Sports. A 5-foot-11, 195-pound graduate of the McCallie School in Chattanooga, Rivers had 62 catches for 1,162 yards in 2024 season and caught 12 touchdown passes.

Combining the transfers and high school recruits joining the 2025 roster, Tech is bringing in 20 players (including tight ends) who play on the offensive or defensive lines. They are joining a program where there are 16 former offensive or defensive lineman on Key’s staff.

“That’s obviously by design. It’s something that I wanted,” Key told 680 The Fan in January before the College Football Playoff Championship game. “It shows the emphasis we put on the line of scrimmage. If you wanna play in this (national championship) game, you gotta be able to win at the line of scrimmage. That’s what it is.”
