Over the last few years, Alpharetta has developed its own restaurant scene that has locals frequenting them and others making the drive north. Restaurants that made their name "inside the perimeter" have now created second locations in Alpharetta.

Pizza Antico Napoletana
The Northside location of the popular Atlanta pizzeria opened its doors in early 2015. Owner Giovanni Di Palma says he chose Avalon because of the feel of the development, which he believes gives customers a sense of being at a piazza in Rome. Diners sometimes talk to the bakers, making pies ranging from margherita to bianca (white pizza), Capricciosa (mushroom, artichoke, Italian ham and mozzarella) and Diavola (spicy salami, calabrian peppers, buffalo mozzarella and garlic), along with calzones.

The El Felix
Local restaurateur and native Texan Ford Fry is the driving force behind El Felix. The eatery's patterned concrete blocks, chicken wire and brickwork create an Austin, Texas, atmosphere offering tacos, enchiladas, fajitas made with braised short ribs, basted red snapper and catfish.

Smokejack Southern Grill
Owner Dave Filipowicz visited barbecue establishments across the U.S. before opening in 2004. The fare reflects the best of the regional tastes he enjoyed, including pimento cheese and fried green tomatoes. Then menu has Carolina-style pulled-pork, Texas beef brisket and a Kansas City classic: burnt ends. Smokejack caters and has a private events facility.
