A Texas woman is accused of assaulting a mail carrier after not receiving a piece of mail she wanted, according to an arrest affidavit filed Thursday.

On the morning of Dec. 28, a mail carrier was making a delivery at 2215 South Congress Ave. in Austin when a woman, who police identified as 31-year-old Joycelyn Wiley, attacked her, the affidavit said.
The mail carrier told police Wiley grabbed her by the hair from behind and slammed her head to the ground, demanding to know where her check was.
The victim said she struggled for some time but was able to get away. She told police Wiley chased her down and pushed her head into the doorway of a nearby business.
According to the document, Wiley then slammed the victim’s foot into the door and ran away.
Police say the mail carrier was left with a concussion, fractured finger, and abrasions to her elbow, arm, knees and hand.
Wiley was being held in the Travis County Jail on Thursday, and was serving a sentence of 240 days for a previous assault charge.
