A few raindrops might get in the way of Friday night’s Braves home opener, but Saturday and Sunday should be dry, and the Georgia Department of Transportation has canceled all construction-related interstate lane closures throughout the weekend as motorists return home from spring break trips.

Rain moves out, sunshine moves in

Channel 2 meteorologist Karen Minton is forecasting a 100 percent chance of rain for Friday, but partly sunny skies for Saturday and Sunday.

There’s a slight chance that thunderstorms could become severe Friday afternoon, particularly south of I-20.

Highs through Sunday will be in the mid-70s, with lows in the 50s.

Baseball, basketball, the arts and people dressed as animals

The Braves play the Mets at Turner Field Friday and Saturday nights and Sunday afternoon, while the Hawks take on Charlotte Friday night at Philips Arena.

In Lawrenceville, the Gwinnett Braves play the Durham Bulls Friday and Saturday nights and Sunday afternoon.

The annual Atlanta Dogwood Festival Friday through Sunday at Piedmont Park is one of several spring festivals on tap this weekend.

Other festivals include the 39th annual WRFG Peachblossom Bluegrass Festival Saturday at the Clarkston Community Center, the Hapeville Spring Festival Saturday at the Tom E. Morris Sports Complex, the Festival on Ponce Saturday and Sunday at Olmstead Linear Park, the Acworth Arts Festival Saturday and Sunday in downtown Acworth and the Hogs and Hops Festival Saturday at The Masquerade.

One of the more unusual events is the annual Furry Weekend Atlanta, which runs Friday through Sunday at downtown's Marriott Marquis hotel. According to the event's website, the convention attracts fans who enjoy dressing up in furry costumes resembling animals with human characteristics.
