The trucker who was found shot to death this week was a longtime youth football coach who will be honored with a candlelight vigil Saturday.
The Central DeKalb Youth Football Association will hold the vigil at 6 p.m. for Courtney Daniels Sr., 49, of Stone Mountain, Channel 2 Action News reported.
“He meant so much to the community, to the kids and this program,” the Central DeKalb Youth Football Association reported on its Facebook page. “Join us in celebrating the life of “Big Courtney.”
The vigil will be held on the football field at Wade Walker Park.
Daniels was the association’s football coordinator.
He was found dead early Thursday inside a tractor-trailer parked outside a southwest Atlanta motel.
Olubumi Ogunsuyi, 35, has been charged with murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Atlanta police Lt. Charles Hampton told Channel 2 Action News that Daniels was shot once in the head, apparently after a verbal argument escalated to gunfire.
