An underage driver was seriously injured and his teenage passenger killed Sunday afternoon in a three-car crash in DeKalb County, police said.
DeKalb police Capt. S.R. Fore said a 14-year-old boy was driving a Chrysler Sebring recklessly and at a high rate of speed when he lost control of the vehicle at the intersection of Rock Chapel and Rockbridge roads.
The Sebring crossed the median and was hit by an oncoming Honda Civic, which was then struck from the rear by a Toyota Camry.
Channel 2 Action News reported that the Sebring was stolen.
The Sebring driver was taken to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta in serious condition. His passenger, who was also 14, died at the scene, Fore said.
Neither were wearing seat belts, according to Fore.
The drivers and passengers in the Honda and Toyota were taken to Grady Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Police have not released the names of those killed and injured.
The accident remains under investigation, Fore said.
