Two seniors at northeast Georgia’s Franklin County High School were killed Wednesday afternoon when the vehicle they were riding in wrecked.

The crash happened just before 2 p.m. on Jackson Bridge Road at Strawberry Lane in Franklin County, Georgia State Patrol spokeswoman Tracey Watson said.

She said a vehicle driven by 18-year-old Samuel Parten of Carnesville left the roadway and went down an embankment.

The two passengers in the vehicle, Timothy Lee Hartman and Maleke Douglas Moon, both 17 and from Canon, were killed, Watson said.

She said Parten was injured and taken to Athens Regional Hospital. His condition was not immediately available.

Watson said the crash is still under investigation.

Franklin County is about 85 miles northeast of Atlanta.
