Douglasville police are looking for a group of armed robbers who shot two employees of a Fairburn Road gas station and convenience store early Tuesday.

Douglasville police Lt. Mark Edwards told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that police got a call at 12:18 a.m. about an armed robbery with shots fired at the RaceTrac station in the 5800 block of Fairburn Road.

When officers arrived two minutes later, they found two employees, a man and a woman, suffering from non-life threatening gunshot wounds.

The victims, one shot in the leg and the other in the abdomen, were taken to Grady Memorial Hospital in stable condition.

“The store employees are working with us,” Douglasville police Chief Chris Womack told Channel 2 Action News. “They’re both coherent, both able to give us statements as to what occurred.”

There were no customers inside the store when the shooting happened shortly after midnight, but there were two people pumping gas outside.

According to Channel 2, police believe the gunmen entered the store through a back entrance.

RaceTrac’s corporate offices issued a statement late Tuesday morning regarding the shooting:

“The entire RaceTrac family was saddened to hear of the incident involving two of our team members. Our thoughts and prayers are with our team members, their family and friends at this time. The safety of our team members and guests is our number one priority and we are working closely with local authorities in their investigation. We consider our team members family, and we take their safety and well-being very seriously. The Douglasville Police Department is offering a $5,000 reward for information regarding this incident and RaceTrac will match that reward for a total of $10,000 for information leading to arrests and convictions in this case.”
