All southbound lanes of Cobb Parkway reopened after a serious accident shut down the roadway Tuesday morning.

A tractor-trailer was involved in the crash near Paces Mill Road, according to Cobb County police. Authorities closed the southbound lanes for about an hour while they investigated.

The road reopened by 8:55 a.m., the WSB 24-hour Traffic Center reported.

Earlier views from a Georgia Department of Transportation camera showed a badly mangled passenger car on the scene. It appeared the roof was ripped off.

Authorities, however, said there were no fatalities in the crash.
