All westbound lanes of I-20 in Carroll County have reopened after being shut down for a couple of hours by an accident that apparently involved a pedestrian.

The accident happened around 6:45 a.m. at Ga. 113. Channel 2 Action News reported that a pedestrian was apparently hit by a tractor-trailer. Authorities were forcing all westbound traffic off of the interstate at Exit 19 until just after 8:30 a.m., when the lanes reopened.

“Delays remain due to the extreme congestion,” the Georgia Department of Transportation warned. “Motorists traveling in this area are strongly should to use alternate routes to avoid extreme delays.”
