Monday’s back-to-work morning rush hour got off to a rough start, with early tractor-trailer crashes on the north side and the south side.
While the wreck north of town was cleared just before 8 a.m., it was nearly 10 a.m. before a couple of northbound lanes of I-75 between Jonesboro Road and Old Dixie Highway were reopened following a predawn wreck between two trucks and a car.
Mark Arum in the WSB 24-hour Traffic Center reported that the wreck involved a chemical spill, and that officials for several hours were forcing all northbound traffic off the interstate at Jonesboro Road.
Authorities reopened two lanes shortly before 10 a.m., and the remaining two lanes were opened about 10:30 a.m.
North of Atlanta, an overturned tractor-trailer blocked the ramp from Ga. 400 northbound to I-285 westbound just before daybreak, but that wreck was cleared and the ramp reopened shortly before 8 a.m.
There were no immediate reports of serious injuries in either wreck.
