Late Wednesday, a woman was killed in a hit-and-run on Buford Highway in Doraville. But nearly six hours passed before authorities found her body, the Georgia State Patrol said Thursday.

Authorities don’t know who she is. She had no identification.

All anyone knows is that a black sedan was traveling southbound on Buford Highway near English Oak Drive about 11:20 p.m. when the woman “walked into the roadway and was struck by the vehicle,” the GSP said in a statement.

The sedan kept going. The woman, who was wearing dark clothes, “was not located until approximately 5:10 a.m.,” officials said.

The hit-and-run, which caused temporary southbound delays on Buford Highway just south of Button Gwinnett Drive, remains under investigation.
