Dunwoody police Thursday released the name of a motorcyclist killed overnight when he collided with a dump truck on I-285.
The wreck happened just after midnight on I-285 westbound between Chamblee Dunwoody Road and Ashford Dunwoody Road.
Dunwoody police spokesman Trey Nelson said Robert McCarthy of Marietta was operating the motorcycle “at a high rate of speed” when he hit the rear of the dump truck.
The motorcycle burst into flames, Nelson said, and McCarthy, 26, died at the scene.
No other injuries were reported.
