Just in time for the busy Memorial Day weekend traffic period, the Georgia Department of Transportation is scaling back construction project lane closures across Georgia.

There will be no active lane closures related to construction on any interstate or major federal or state highway from noon Friday until 5 a.m. Tuesday.

In addition, all lanes of I-85 South near Shallowford Road will reopen by Friday after being closed for several days due a ruptured water line, according to GDOT spokeswoman Karlene Barron.

GDOT urges travelers to call 511, their real-time traffic and travel information phone service, for updated information about traffic conditions, incidents, lane closures, and delays due to inclement weather.
