A car hit and killed a pedestrian who had just exited a MARTA bus Tuesday in Alpharetta, police said.
About 6:10 a.m., Alpharetta police received a call from a MARTA bus driver that a white Lexus struck Chekuri Gautam, spokesman George Gordon said.
“The preliminary investigation indicates that he got off the MARTA bus,” Gordon said. “He walked down the side of the bus. At some point, he entered the roadway and was struck by a 2011 Lexus.”
Gautam, 36, of Ocala, Fla., died on the scene.
Police temporarily shut down Haynes Bridge Road south of Old Milton Parkway, according to Channel 2 Action News.
