The city of Johns Creek has released its first smartphone app.

Dubbed "JC Now," the application uses push notifications to alert residents to bad weather, traffic mishaps and other emergencies. It also gives users access to a variety of topics including maps, news articles, social media and city council agendas. It's available at play.google.com/store (Android) or appstore.com/jcnow (Apple).

Apps allowing residents to request help from police and public works officials are being developed, city officials said.
