Q: Recent articles on ongoing Georgia state budget issues allude to the Teachers Retirement System of Georgia needing a bailout of more than $360 million. The TRSGA at the end of 2017 had 79.33 percent of the assets to pay pensioners in the future while the Employees’ Retirement System of Georgia (ERSGA) had 76 percent. The question is: If the state is budgeting $361 million for TRSGA, how much is the state budgeting for the poorer funded ERSGA?

—Mike De Lisle, Fayetteville

A: No money is being budgeted for ERSGA.

Q: Where is the GBI with the backlog of rape kits?

—Michael Mauk, Lawrenceville

A: The current number awaiting testing is 3,453, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution in January 2017 reported that 10,314 kits were awaiting testing at the GBI.
