A Cobb County grand jury Thursday indicted two men in the alleged gang-related shooting death of a Marietta taxi driver’s mentally challenged son during a February robbery.

James Lee Black and Abdul Malik Griffin were indicted on 11 counts, including malice murder, felony murder, armed robbery and violation of the street gang terrorism and prevention act, in the Feb. 18 death of Tomas Arriola.

Arriola, 22, was riding along in his father’s cab when two customers requested a ride, according to police. After the ride to the St. Augustine apartments, police say Black and Griffin robbed and assaulted Arriola and his father, Tomas Arriola-Duran.

After he was arrested on March 2, Griffin identified Black as his co-conspirator, and witnesses confirmed Black's alleged involvement. Black was arrested April 4 in Buffalo, N.Y., by the U.S. Marshals Service and Cobb sheriff's deputies.

The indictment handed down by the grand jury on Thursday alleges that the two were “associated with Hard Head Money Clique, a criminal street gang,” when they robbed and assaulted the taxi driver and his son.
