When they were spotted burglarizing the True Religion Jeans store in Woodstock, two cars of suspects left the area driving erratically shortly before 5 a.m. Monday, according to police.
Police attempted to catch up to the two cars, which nearly struck two other cars. But before officers could stop the two cars, one crashed on Ga. 92, west of Wade Green Road, the Georgia State Patrol said.
One person was killed and another injured when the driver of an Acura traveled across the opposite side of the road, hit a curb, overturned and hit a retaining wall, according to investigators.
The passenger of the car, whose name was not released, died at the scene of the wreck, the GSP said. The driver was transported to WellStar Kennestone Hospital with unknown injuries.
Woodstock police and the GSP are investigating.
