Forest Park police have arrested a teenager in the robbery and brutal beating earlier this month of a florist.
The robbery happened around 10 a.m. Nov. 10 at Red and Gold Florist on College Street.
A customer called police after finding the 73-year-old shop owner lying on a sofa severely beaten in the head and face.
Investigators said she had been been robbed at knife point.
Late Monday night, police arrested 18-year-old Juwanza Dovontae Hoard, and charged him with armed robbery and aggravated assault.
“The public played a vital role by calling in tips that assisted detectives in this investigation,” Forest Park police Lt. James Delk said Tuesday. “The citizens of this community as well as local business owners realized the senselessness of this act and stepped up to assist law enforcement to ensure the offender was caught.”
