Georgia tax revenue grew by 11 percent in April, Gov. Nathan Deal's office said Wednesday, aided by strong growth in individual income tax collections.

For the month, total revenue grew by $152 million compared with April 2011. For the first 10 months of the fiscal year, the state has collected a total of $13.3 billion in taxes and fees, for a 5.4 percent increase over the same period a year ago.

Deal's office said individual income tax collections were up $711 million over April 2011, an increase of 13.2 percent.

Sales and use tax collections also saw growth; they increased a net 4.8 percent for the month to $482.5 million.

Corporate income taxes, however, fell $2.25 million to $68 million as corporate tax refunds increased $1.25 million.
