Today’s the last day to cast a ballot ahead of Election Day in Georgia.

While early voting ends Friday, polls will re-open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Officials say early voting eases congestion on Election Day and is more convenient for voters. More importantly, they say it allows time for a voter to correct any problem that may occur at the polls, including questions about registration.

To that end, local election officials and voting advocacy groups across Georgia have been trying to drum up early-voting attendance with a #PostThePeach social media campaign.

Early voters have been encouraged to take a photo of their “I’m A Georgia Voter” sticker, post it on social media with the #PostThePeach hashtag and then challenge friends and family to get out to the polls early, too.

One caution: It is illegal to take a picture of your ballot or while voting.

Voters can go online to check their registration status and find early-voting locations in their county via the secretary of state's voter Web page or by contacting their local elections office.
