Former presidents, Georgians and national admirers of the philanthropy and philosophy of former President Jimmy Carter celebrated his return home from the hospital Wednesday.
The 95-year-old former U.S. president has had a tumultuous year of health woes, including several falls and surgeries. His latest fall left him with pressure on his brain, which required emergency surgery at Emory University Hospital.

He remained at the hospital 15 days after the surgery, and he will now have the chance to celebrate with turkey, which he regularly hunts, and enjoy his family on Thanksgiving.
“He and Mrs. Carter look forward to enjoying Thanksgiving at home in Plains, where he will continue to recover,” The Carter Center spokeswoman Deanna Congileo said in a news release. “The Carters are grateful for all the prayers, cards, and notes they have received and hope everyone will join them in enjoying a special Thanksgiving.”

His supporters from all walks of life were also grateful Wednesday that the 39th president of the United States would enjoy the holiday outside of a hospital.
Former President Bill Clinton was one of many that welcomed the news Wednesday afternoon.
Gospel legend Kurt Carr shared the “great news” with his followers Wednesday.
