A 24-year-old Sandy Springs man has been charged with murder in the death of his mother, police said Monday.
Cathleen Tyson, 57, was stabbed in the face and suffered blunt force trauma to the head at a home on Spalding Forrest Court, Sandy Springs police Sgt. Ron Momon said in a news release.
When police responded to a 911 call at the residence around 7:20 a.m. Monday, Patrick Wayne Tyson told officers that he had returned home from jogging and found his mother bleeding on the floor, Momon said. He allegedly told police that two men were in the house and fled.
But upon questioning at police headquarters, inconsistencies were found in his story, Momon said.
Detectives found a knife used in the killing while searching the home, he said.
Patrick Tyson was charged with malice murder, aggravated assault with intent to commit murder, and possession of a knife in the commission of a felony.
