Crime Stoppers is offering a $2,000 reward for information in the fatal shooting early Sunday of a North Carolina A&T State University student, who had moved to the area from Georgia as a high school freshman.

The Wilson Times Newspaper reported that Dorian Edwards entered Beddingfield High School as a freshman and went on to become an honor student and football standout before graduating.

On Sunday night, students at the university remembered 19-year-old Edwards during a memorial vigil at a campus reflection pool, according to the newspaper.

Early Sunday, Greensboro police responded to reports of a shooting at a large party on Perkins Street around 12:40 a.m., according to the department’s Facebook page. There they found Edwards with a gunshot wound. He was taken to a hospital, where he died.

The party was at an apartment complex less than a mile from campus, according to the Associated Press.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers at 336-373-1000 and say callers can remain anonymous.
