Record-high 90-degree temperatures expected across Deep South

Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana to experience unseasonable temperatures

Areas of South Georgia, Florida, Alabama could experience temperatures above 90 degrees this weekend.

Later this week, the early spring weather could feel more like midsummer with a heat wave set to stretch across many states in the Deep South.

The National Weather Service is predicting temperatures Thursday and Friday could top 90 degrees in areas of Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana according to AP News.

While current temperatures across the South are cool and rainy, an area of high pressure is expected to arc across the southeast toward the end of the week. The high pressure front causes air to sink and temperatures to rise, according to The Weather Channel.
