After a soggy Friday morning rush hour across metro Atlanta, commuters will also likely have a wet drive home, forecasters said.

Weather radar showed light to moderate rain falling across all of north and central Georgia before daybreak, and Channel 2 meteorologist Karen Minton said the showers will continue throughout the afternoon before tapering off from the west around 9 p.m.

Overnight rainfall totals through 6 a.m. ranged from .29 inch in Alpharetta, .34 inch in Marietta and .36 inch in Dunwoody to .59 inch at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport and .65 inch in Dallas.

All of the precipitation was rain, as temperatures were well above freezing across all of north Georgia, including in the mountains, where Blairsville reported 37 degrees at 6 a.m.

That might not be the case late Friday night and Saturday morning, when the National Weather Service said light snow may mix with the rain across the higher elevations of the mountain counties.

The Weather Service said light accumulations are possible on grassy areas north of a Rome to Jasper to Cleveland line, but the roadways will remain wet as temperatures should stay above freezing.

Minton said the chance of rain Friday in metro Atlanta is 100 percent, diminishing to 20 percent Saturday morning.

Sunday through Tuesday should be sunny, Minton said.

Highs will be in the mid-40s Friday, upper 40s Saturday and mid-50s Sunday, with morning lows around 37 Saturday and 33 Sunday.
