Sandy Springs Police have arrested a suspect who they say fled after he lost control of his car and rammed into a car wash, killing a man inside on Saturday.

The incident took place at Mikael’s Car Wash, 6390 Roswell Road. Police said 41-year-old Malcolm C. Callender II, of Jonesboro, died from injuries he received in the crash. He was inside the car wash when the car ran into it.

Police arrested Wilfredo Santo-Serrano early Sunday morning at an apartment complex a short distance from the car wash. Police said Santo-Serrano fled the scene after the incident. He has been charged with felony hit-and-run and first degree vehicular homicide. He was taken to the Fulton County Jail.

Police said Santo-Serrano lost control of his vehicle, which slammed into the side of the building, striking Callender, who was inside the car wash. Callender was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

A similar incident happened a little more than a week ago in Cobb County. Last Friday, one man was killed and a woman injured when a minivan drove into a restaurant near Town Center Mall.
