There are better ways to combat trafficking
A proposed amendment to the Georgia constitution creates a new state commission to take $2 million a year from sex criminals and adult entertainment establishments to fund “restorative services’’ for victims of sex trafficking. If this plan needs $2 million, we could get that and more from the $122 million settlement recently awarded our state in the Tenet Healthcare Medicaid fraud case. That would not require a constitutional amendment – only that our elected officials act with integrity.
There are other plans that would help sex trafficking victims. Change our state laws to prevent properties used for prostitution from quickly transferring ownership so illegal activities continue. Change our federal visa system, which allows hundreds of women to enter the U.S. and be forced into prostitution with no follow up to verify visa compliance. These plans will do some good with money we will already have.

Trump running on Mob Rule Ticket
In our country, elected officials do not jail their political opponents. Donald Trump promised to jail Hillary Clinton if he is elected. He speaks of change under a Trump administration and the change he envisions is authoritarian government. With the large number of Republican office holders rejecting him, Trump could more likely be seen as running on the Mob Rule Ticket rather than the Grand Old Party’s. The motto of this ticket is “lock her up” since mob rule ideas don’t depend on evidence of wrongdoing. Jailing opponents is not what our great Founding Fathers envisioned and is simply appalling.
