Mayor should protect GSU’s investment

A rabble of greedy malcontents are trying to disrupt the redevelopment of the Turner Field area by Georgia State University. It is imperative to remember that GSU has made a massive contribution to downtown Atlanta. GSU’s contribution has been so massive, GSU deserves to decide how the Turner Field area is redeveloped and not the greedy residents around Turner Field who have made absolutely no contribution to Atlanta. It is time for Mayor Kasim Reed to make it clear that the full force of Atlanta’s police power will be brought to bear to force through GSU’s redevelopment plans for the Turner Field area. Any protesting troublemakers who try to obstruct the redevelopment of the Turner Field area will be forced to do slave labor in building dorms and classrooms. Reed must protect GSU’s massive investment in Atlanta. It’s the right thing to do.

Congress must work to expand Medicare

Access to health care is a fundamental right denied to millions of people across the U.S. Our current health care system is too fragmented, too expensive, and lags behind other nations in quality of care, efficiency, and access to care. As a registered nurse, I am concerned that far too many people are not getting the care they need.

Luckily, we have a model health care system that demonstrates how to solve these problems – Medicare, which helps millions of senior citizens to get the health care they need. We should expand and improve it so that everyone can benefit.

Medicare for all would help millions more get care while dramatically cutting costs. It’s time for Congress to work toward making sure health care is a right, not a privilege, in the United States.
