Braves’ trades yield ‘cut rate’ roster
The Atlanta Braves are a disgrace to major league baseball and an insult to Braves fans. In a bald-faced move to slash payroll, Braves owners have traded almost all of their real major league players (except Freddie Freeman) for so-called “prospects.” This has produced a “cut rate” roster, which is an outrageous insult to longtime Braves fans, who are now watching the worst Braves team in modern history.
Soon, these Braves will be playing in a first-class stadium. Starting right now, real Braves fans should express their outrage by boycotting the Atlanta Braves. If some die-hard fans have not become completely disgusted, they can back the Gwinnett Braves in their cut-rate stadium (and maybe even see a “prospect” or two). When the “Cobb County Braves” begin playing in their grand, tax-subsidized venue, however, all true Atlanta Braves fans should remember this insult and stay home.

Bookman’s right about Sanders
I totally agree with Jay Bookman’s comments (“Sanders can’t turn now to the insiders,” April 24). Sanders began his campaign for president with lofty ideals and goals for our country. His message has energized and resonated with millions of young voters and others. Unfortunately, Sanders’ celebrity status has overcome his ego and his grab for power is quite obvious. Despite the numerical and long odds of capturing the nomination, Sanders persists in tomfoolery by trying to convert superdelegates to him. Hillary Clinton graciously conceded to then-U.S. Sen. Barack Obama when the delegate count favored him. Sanders should take the high road and do the same for Clinton.
